The Bacon Dilemma
For a recent job interview, I was given a challenge: Solve a real-life user-experience problem that does not involve software or the internet.

UX design is a process - understand the users of a product, test that product with them and then design solutions to make the product easier to use. Then you test the solutions to make sure they work.
This marriage of research and creativity takes patience, interpersonal skills, design experience, plus a healthy dose of open-mindedness and analytical thought.
The amazing thing about UX design is that it is all based on proof - the answers are in the research, and if you can't find the answers, you do more research to find the solution.
